ZM says – Turn back your clock

“When you’re in Flow, when you’re in the Zone – time stops. Time disappears. Time even rewinds itself – or shoots forward. There is a time to use time. And there’s a time to lose yourself in time. When you’re totally in the moment, living fully, completely absorbed and focused – that’s when time in inconsequential. When it’s just you and Infinity – a lot gets accomplished without a shred of tension or stress. Turn back your clock to a moment when all was well in your world. Breathe life into that moment and experience the difference.”

ZM says – the No Plan-Plan

china5b“What’s the plan for tomorrow,” asks a friend, who is visiting China for the first time.

“Flow,” I reply.

“Flow?” he questions with an uncertain smile.

“Yes.”

“But what are you going to do?”

“Flow,” I reply again.

”I’m not sure what that entails.”

“That’s the idea,” I answer.

Ponder the following: Do you really think your day will go better if you have an A-Z plan? Maybe some great things will happen above and beyond your thinking if you have a picture in your mind of something you’d like to experience, then you allow the Universe to do the rest in guiding you to it.

Plans are valuable in the right time and place. Yet, the same is true of the “no plan-plan.”

Give yourself one day per week of spontaneous flow and you’ll probably enjoy life more than you did during the previous six days combined.

Who knows – you may decide to flop the other way afterward. Imagine being in flow six days per week with one day planned out in great detail.

Don’t try to do it. Just ponder the idea for a spell and see what happens.

Be Still – and Flow,

ZM says… Happy New LIFE

“To live a year at a time is folly. To live one day at a time is overblown. To live one breath at a time – ah, that will teach you to live fully. Every day is a new lifetime. Forget years and days. Focus on your breaths as they hold the key to vast new worlds of astonishment.”

Christmas in Seoul, with Soul

Christmas Soul in Seoul

Hello my friend,

14:10. That’s how long the flight from Atlanta to Seoul took. And I don’t mean minutes. 14 hours and 10 minutes.

Truth is, I’m used to it and don’t view the time on board a plane for an international flight as a problem. But flying from Florida to California. I hate that. Five hours of being cooped up. Ouch.

Now wait a second. How can I enjoy a flight that’s nine hours longer than a domestic one. Good question. And the answer is that it all comes down to how “I see” each experience.

With international flights I say to myself, “Hey, you choose this right? So don’t complain. Figure out a way to enjoy the ride. Look for ways to stay open and flowing.

And so I do.

Much of the time I’m sitting still, watching my breath, appreciating the miracle of world travel via the sky. Or I’m reading, thinking or watching a movie.

But from FL to LA? I tend to do the opposite. Until I catch myself as I did before my first trip to Asia in 1993.  I remind myself, “I don’t care if you like this or not. You chose to book this 5-hour flight, now figure out a way to enjoy it.”

Ironically, I enjoy domestic flights by “not eating” the “fake foods” and by sleeping or picturing my best moments in the Theatre of my Mind. Doing this puts me into flow and good things begin to happen.

But being grouchy and grumpy. That doesn’t usually lead to the positive, although sometimes it does.

So now we get to the subject of Christmas and the auto-pilot belief that you MUST send out cards, buy presents and go to lots of parties.

Well, somewhere along the line the ZM within said, “Not for me. But I wish YOU a very Merry Christmas. I’ll be merry with or without the gifts, parties and pastries. But a glass of dry red wine, hey, I’ll drink to that.”

So I’m up early in Seoul, getting ready to put my soul into a mind-body Chi Kung workout and I wish you a great holiday season, with all the trimmings. Seriously.

Look for updates from South Korea and China with each passing day, including pictures and video.

Ah yes, my gift to you this holiday season.

Be Still – and Flow,

ZM Says … “Don’t listen to morons and idiots”

Hello my friend,

So you have a dream. You have a goal you’d like to accomplish. And in your exuberance you “announce” your intentions to those whom you think are on your side.

After doing so you get applause. Or criticism. Either way, once you’ve let the word out you feel drained. You feel depleted. All your enthusiasm vanished.

You may wonder “what happened?”

Well, to put it bluntly, you got your FLOW blocked. The people you talked to don’t really want to see you succeed. It’ll make them look bad if you do.

Despite their smiles and “that’s great” commentary – they derailed you. And why shouldn’t they. You made the mistake of thinking their advice was sound. Yet, unless they’ve already DONE what you’re attempting to do, they should not be on your list of advisors.

Over 15 years ago I coined a phrase: “Don’t take seks advice from a eunuch.” The advice applies to all categories though.  Not just seks.

How often is this principle of talking to the wrong people violated? MOST of the time by MOST people. Hence, the reason for so much frustration and failure.

Many people have the misguided notion that you should be an open book with those who are closest to you. You should tell your spouse all your goals; same goes for your family.

Not true. Spouses and family are two of the biggest flow blockers in existence. You’re better off doing the thing, succeeding, then showing off your prize. Nothing before. No talk. No approval seeking before action. Just go, go, go.

Some erroneously classify this advice as “hiding” or “lying.” I have a more positive slant. I call it “secretive  success conditioning.”

Think the non-hiding way is better? Okay, show me the fruits of your labor. Oh, you don’t have any. Okay, so when you going to stop operating the way others “guilt” you into acting.

Want to stop drinking, smoking, drugging – don’t tell your friends who want to continue on doing the same. Just remove yourself from their company and begin a new life. No explanations necessary. No one to please. Just get on with your new pattern of living.

Once you realize that most people on earth will consciously or unconsciously try to hold you back – you understand that you better get clear on WHO you can talk to and who you cannot.

As a “neg busting” Zen Master, I consider it my passion to help others break out of victim-mode and be the REAL YOU who truly wants to express himself in this world. Freely. Unencumbered. Unfettered.

Unbelievable.

So sayeth the ZM.

Be still – and flow.

Stud Coach says The Flow My “Best-Ever”

Hello my friend,

Here’s some major praise from a customer who has every one of my products and started with me in the 1990’s:

“I’ve been a student of Matt Furey’s since the 90’s. I must have everyone of his courses. The Flow is his best course yet. Matt out did himself. What you’ll learn on the first CD alone is worth the investment. It’s amazing how fast Matt can get you into The Flow. Once you experience it there will be no stopping you.”

Paul Reddick, “The Master Of MPH”
Camp Director, Yogi Berra Museum

ZM: Thank you, Paul. Yes, you’ve been with me a long time and I’m very grateful. Keep kicking butt.

Now it’s your turn.

Ph.D. Raves About “THE FLOW”

Hello my friend,

Here’s some praise from a University of Florida professor who recently listened to “THE FLOW.” My comments will follow:

Hi Matt,

“The material presented in The Flow is truly life changing and unlike anything I’ve ever heard before. After listening to these CDs, I now understand the step by step process that can be used to achieve goals in any domain. What’s more, this process can truly be fun. I now see that strain and tension are unnecessary and not helpful. There is so much wisdom contained in The Flow that I plan to listen to this program over and over again.”

Steve Anton, Ph.D.
University of Florida

ZM: Thank you, Steve. I’m thrilled to hear you’re getting so much out of the CDs. Truly awesome.

Now is your turn to experience the difference “The Flow” will make in your life. Grab your set NOW.

The Combat Conditioning Waterfall

In December of 1997, after winning the world kung fu championships in Beijing, China, I visited Huangguoshu Pubu – which means “yellow fruit tree waterfall.”

The picture we took there ended up being the cover photo for my international bestseller Combat Conditioning. Can you say “priceless?”

Combat Conditioning

For many years I used that “grainy” photo in my marketing and advertising – and still do. Zen moral of the story: when you go on a trip, always have a camera and/or video camera with you. You never know the gold you can mine from a single photo or short video taken when you’re in the right place at the right time. Below is video footage of the same waterfall taken a few years ago when I revisited with my family.

Enjoy the clip.

Be still – and let it flow.
